Domestic Tourism in China - The Dragon Rises

>> Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Not only does China have lots of travelers from points all over the globe touring their countryside, and going to their major sizable cities, walking on the Great Wall of China, in looking through all the ancient history, but there is a renewed sense of pride coming from China's own people, as they travel around and rediscover their older roots, history, heritage, and culture.

Most people don't realize this, but 96% of the population of China has never gone outside China's boundaries. In other words, they have never had their passports stamped. But now as China is growing its middle class there is a lot more travelling going on domestically inside of China. Thanks to more roads and cars, and better train and aircraft transportation it is much not as hard to travel domestically than it is ever been before. This means that tourism in China is becoming a great sizable industry.

This is a very lovely thing, and it is a giant industry.

One estimate was that China would need over more 2000 airliners by 2020, and most of those would be smaller airliners that would move people around the country. Beijing airport by that time may have as lots of as 50 million travelers pass through each and every year. China is continually building more rail tracks, and more roads, and even high-speed trains.

For lots of Chinese this is something very new, something they have never known, and they are enjoying every minute of it, and willing to spend their money to travel and get away. The United States of The united states could only dream of that type of growth in our travel industry, right now travel and hospitality sectors are down in the US, and not expected to return to their former highs until 2012. consider all this.
